How it all started

I was given my first camera, a point and shoot Canon A520, by my parents as a Christmas present back in the 2nd grade.  It was a four megapixel powerhouse compared to the two megapixel camera of my parents I had been borrowing.  I loved experimenting with different settings and figuring out how everything worked together.

However, what I loved most about my new camera is that it allowed me to capture images of the beautiful places we explored as a family and bring them back to my grandma who was too fragile to come along with us.  It was amazing to see how much joy I could bring her in presenting and narrating a simple slideshow of my photos for her with my family.

That is when I realized the amazing capacity of photography to convey stories, emotion, and meaning in a way unlike anything else.  That was a feeling I will never forget.  Ever since then, I have been an avid photographer exploring God's great creation and sharing my images with anyone who is interested.

My Hobbies

In my free time, I love being outside and exploring.  Whether it is road biking, mountain biking, flying, competition shooting, road tripping, or backpacking, I will be extremely happy.  I love experiencing the beauty of God's creation and of course, photographing it in creative and interesting ways.

I am also capable of doing things indoors too.  I am always up for a good board game with family and friends, baking something to share, reading the WSJ or a good biography, researching new places to explore, and of course, processing my photos!

You might be able to guess that I am rather competitive, and you would be right!  I love to compete with people and especially to win.  I believe that I owe it to God, who gave me my abilities, to make the most of them.  Thus, I try my hardest at everything I do.  Hopefully that shows in my photography.

My Gear

Does It Really Matter?

Nice gear helps, but especially considering how far even the most basic of DSLRs and mirrorless cameras have come, it really comes down to the skill of the photographer as opposed to the quality of the gear the vast majority of the time.

My Main Kit:

Sony A7 III & A7 RIV and the Sony 2.8 line of lenses among others

DJI Mavic Air 2

What I Process My RAW Files With:

Capture One Pro 21
